  • What if you could give your Hem/Onc kiddo one last professional portrait with their family? Or a stuffed animal that came with a matching bandanna, port, and a book titled “I’m Still Me”? We’ll tell you how to connect your families to resources that matter.
  • You’ve dimmed the lights, put on soothing music, and placed a cold pack where your patient is getting a poke….but he is still screaming! There could be something you’re missing. Learn what sensory integration is, and how it relates to your Child Life practices.
  • Need more interventions and distraction ideas? Be the Child Life Specialist with all the cool know-how! Our second issue will boast more pages, more content, more products.

Guide to Chicago

LSQ's Walking Guide to Chicago

First time in the Windy City? Welcome to the home of the greats, such as Al Capone, Vince Vaughn, and Michael Jordan! Lucky for you, a few of us are local Chicagoans and can answer any questions you have!

Take a peek at our brochure for ideas on where to eat, socialize, and shop. Write to us for cheaper hotel & site seeing ideas. *Directions in brochure are from the Sheraton as a starting point. LSQuarterly@gmail.com

And yes, what you heard is true: You DON‘T need a car! So save your money for souvenirs!

Fun Fact: Grab a 3-Day CTA pass and get unlimited rides on the bus and train, which means unlimited access to the city for $14 (cheaper than a car rental). CTA passes are sold at the airports, Walgreens, CVS, Money Order shops, or any grocery store you see.

How to get from O’Hare to the Sheraton: Take the Blue Line towards Forest Park (this will take you to the famous “Loop”). Exit Grand/Milwaukee Blue Line. Take a 3 min walk from Grand to Halsted/Milwaukee. Take bus #65 towards Navy Pier. Exit Illinois/McClurg, walk 3 min to hotel.

* This is easier than it sounds. It is safe to travel with luggage, and people are always willing to give you directions. There is only one line going from each airport to the city, so don’t worry about taking the wrong train! Grab a city map at the airport! Everything is very clearly labeled in the city, so go be adventurous!

Cabs are like ants, they’re everywhere! Distances are short, so cab rides shouldn’t exceed $40 from airports and $10 within city (depending on traffic).

How to get from Midway to the Sheraton: Take the Orange Line towards the loop. Exit State/Lake, walk a min to State/Lake. Take #29 bus towards Navy Pier. Exit Illinois/McClurg, walk 3 min to hotel.

See you at the conference!
